| Opportunities are endless for anyone interested in establishing a career in the culinary arts or restaurant business. This industry offers careers with choices to work in almost any location in the country. For hardworking, creative, and service-oriented people, the industry offers unlimited potential.
Hands On: Students develop skills and work habits by working in a studentoperated restaurant called the Jaguar Room. It is open Wednesday - Friday during lunch hours. Junior and Senior classes share management responsibilities of the Jaguar Room during the week. Culinary students also have many opportunities to participate in state and national culinary competitions and compete for scholarships to prominent culinary colleges in the United States. Culinary students gain leadership experience through membership in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
Opportunities after graduation: Students may continue their education at a four-year university, community college, or technical institute. The Culinary Arts & Food Management Program can be a stepping stone. This program provides students with skills they can use to earn money while they pursue advanced training. The Prostart curriculum sponsored by The National Restaurant Association provides students with opportunities to earn college credits while in high school. College scholarships are available through FCCLA and other competitions held in Ohio for high school culinary students.
